In the heart of Albania lies a city that was once the pride of industry and was called “Stalin City”. Kuçova rose on oil, the “black gold” that gave life and work to thousands of families for decades. From the first well opened in 1928, to the massive industrialization during the communist period, the city flourished as a unique economic and cultural center. But with the fall of the system, destruction also came: factories closed, workers were left on the streets, emigration emptied the neighborhoods and traces of glory remained only in ruins.
This documentary brings for the first time the full history of Kuçova, the glory of the past, the wounds of the present, and the hopes of the residents for a new future.
