Spirit of Water, Voice of the People

The Spirit of Water, the Voice of the People is a documentary about the stories of local communities’ resistance against hydropower plants that threaten their rivers. From Zall Gjoçaj in the heart of the Lurë-Mali i Dejës National Park, to Shushica and to the Vjosa, the last wild river in Europe, this documentary tells the struggles of residents, activists, lawyers and organizations who chose not to remain silent.

Through protests, lawsuits, international solidarity and the voices of artists, they managed to protect the waters that are life for people and nature. The documentary brings first-hand testimony, collective memories and a powerful message: when the community engages, the courts listen, and when rivers are protected, we all benefit.
