Signal! – Fight against Corruption through Signaling
Sinjalizo! is an initiative of the Albanian Center for Quality Journalism to create a safe channel between citizens, whistleblowers and investigative journalists.
The program launched in 2020 with the support of the National Endowment for Democracy and centers on the use of SecureDrop technology , a system designed for the secure communication of sources with journalists and for the transmission of sensitive documents or information.
More than a reporting platform
Signal! is not just a place to send information.
Every piece of information that reaches the ACQJ editorial office is reviewed by our journalists. When an issue is of public interest, the journalistic process begins: searching for documents, identifying and verifying sources, confronting the facts, and seeking the reaction of the parties involved.
Only information that can be verified and documented becomes part of a publication.
How it works?
Signal safely
If you have information or documents of public interest, you can transmit them to the editorial team through the dedicated channel.
Journalists verify information
No material is automatically published. The information is analyzed, documented, and compared with other sources.
We research
When there is sufficient basis and public interest, our journalists conduct research independently.
We publish what we can prove.
Each story is subject to ACQJ's editorial, legal, and ethical standards.
Protection of resources
The relationship between journalist and source is one of the fundamental elements of investigative journalism.
SecureDrop is designed to reduce the digital footprint that could identify a source and give citizens a more secure way to communicate with the newsroom.
ACQJ treats information and the identity of sources confidentially in accordance with professional journalistic standards.
Journalism and public education
Signal! is not limited to receiving alerts.
The program has also involved young journalists and journalism students in professional internships, training them in how to construct, verify, and produce investigative stories.
In addition to articles and research, ACQJ also produces explanatory videos and informational materials on whistleblowing, corruption, transparency, and ways in which citizens can report issues of public interest.
