We offer several ways to contact and provide material to our journalists. No communication system is completely secure, but these tools can help protect your anonymity. We've described each one below, but please also review each app's terms and conditions. Please do not send feedback, story ideas, or press releases through these channels.

WHAT MAKES A GOOD SIGNAL?
A strong news story will have several components. Documentation or evidence is essential. Speculating or having a suspicion does not rise to the level of a whistleblower. A good news story should articulate a clear and understandable issue or problem with real-world consequences. Be as specific as possible about stories with broad social impact.

We will review messages regularly, but we cannot promise that each will receive an individual response. There are many ways to present your alerts. Each method offers different levels of protection, so we encourage you to be sure about the information transmission method you choose. We will respond to alerts using the same method in which they were submitted. For example, if you submit information to us using WhatsApp, we will only respond to you using WhatsApp.
WhatsApp is a free messaging app owned by Facebook that allows full end-to-end encryption for its service. Only the sender and recipient can read messages, photos, videos, voice messages, documents and calls. Although you can limit some account information shared with Facebook, WhatsApp still keeps logs of the phone numbers involved in the exchange and user metadata, including timestamps on messages.

SIGNAL
The free and open-source messaging app offers end-to-end encryption to send messages, photos, videos and calls. Signal only stores your phone number, when you first signed up for the service, and when you were last active. No communication metadata is stored. The app also allows messages to self-destruct, removing them from the receiver's and sender's phones (once they've been viewed) after a certain amount of time.

TELEGRAM
Telegram is a cloud-based instant messaging application. The application contains an option to hide the content of chats with end-to-end encryption (private chat room), as well as a regular chat variant that is encrypted in the Telegram Cloud. This application is downloadable for many mobile and desktop operating systems namely iOS, MacOS, Android, Windows Phone, Windows and Linux. We suggest that you use Telegram only for the first contact, and only if you do not have access to Signal.
