The third documentary developed by the Albanian Center for Quality Journalism, within the initiative "Barriers in the Community: Effects of the construction of clusters of hydropower plants on the socio-economic status of the local population", with the support of LevizAlbania, an initiative which aims to its main purpose is to raise public awareness of the effect of the unregulated construction of groups of hydropower plants in different river basins, on the quality of life of the local population, as well as the activation of the latter in decision-making on matters of special importance.
This documentary sheds light on the problems lived by the inhabitants of a large number of villages in the valley of the Vlora (Shušica) River, one of the main branches of the Vjosa, home of the Illyrian cities of Amantia, Olympia and Kanina, and one of the most functional bridges longevity in Albania, the Brat Bridge, as well as the place of countless battles for the independence of central and southern Albania.
Today, even after many years of opposition and small victories in the blocking of concessions on the river, the shadow of destructive investments in the form of hydropower cascades is still felt on the daily life of the villages of the area, which prioritize tourism and agriculture.
