The new penal code, drawn up after three decades, contains over 900 articles that aim to address gaps in the current law and include new criminal offences. This draft represents an attempt to transform Albanian justice, bringing fundamental changes in the way punishments and criminal responsibilities are handled. Life sentences and new legal provisions are now part of this new legal chapter.
