The Roma community, the "ghost" population phenomenon
The Roma are a special community, often discriminated against, always stigmatized for their poverty and way of life. But the Roma are colorful, lively, multi-talented people, just like everyone else, sometimes even more than others, who do not belong to this community. It is enough for them to have an opportunity to express their world and we can see it differently than we prejudge it. But not a few times this opportunity is denied to them, the institutions forget that these people live with us, next to us. There are hundreds, if not thousands of members of the Roma community in the country who do not appear in the basic state register. For the authorities, they are stateless people, who for this reason do not receive any Services, neither education nor health care, for themselves and their babies. Because they do not exist for the Albanian state. Although they are alive, they are there, in front of everyone's eyes, ready to display all their talent and dreams. Follow journalist Brejdon Xhavara.
