I, too, spring from the side of the river

The fifth documentary developed by the Albanian Center for Quality Journalism, within the initiative "Barriers in the Community: Effects of the construction of clusters of hydropower plants on the socio-economic status of the local population", with the support of LevizAlbania, an initiative which aims to its main aim is to raise public awareness of the effect of the unregulated construction of groups of hydropower plants in different river basins, on the quality of life of the local population, as well as the activation of the latter in decision-making on matters of special importance.

This documentary takes a look at the daily life of the residents of Gjorica, located between the valley of the Black Drin and the Bulqiza River. Site of decisive medieval battles between Gjergj Kastriot Skënderbeu and the Ottoman Empire (Valikardh and Vajkal), the field of Gjorica still remains a place of battles, but now of a battle for life and death, between large companies in their efforts to invest in hydropower infrastructure and the villagers of the area, trying to protect the only means of survival, agriculture and livestock.

This initiative is supported by LevizAlbania, a project of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation SDC
